The Simpsons Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Vehicle Fans Are Hoping For

It was previously announced that The Simpsons was teaming up with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole destination where fans can experience the world of Springfield. The beloved show is also making its way to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, introducing an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in the Fortnite universe. However, whether players will actually want to use it is another question, as there's only one Simpsons car everyone is eager to get behind the wheel of, and this new offering isn't that one.

What Fans Really Want

Although most players would undoubtedly love to compete while driving Homer's custom creation—the famously flawed car the patriarch built himself in the 1991 episode "the one where he meets Herb"—that's not what's being offered. Not even receiving the Canyonero, the heavy-duty vehicle showcased in season 10. Rather, players will obtain the Simpsons' standard beat-up four-door, which has been in the family since the show's early days. Though this specific vehicle has seen better days, it stands as an recognizable element of the show. And for players who analyze Rocket League vehicle dimensions, the trusty sedan uses the same hitbox as the Dominus.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

And it's not the only customization item from the show coming to Rocket League. The event will additionally feature a series of challenges to unlock more rewards, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a official announcement, the challenges will task players to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are the show's years on air, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to the Simpson house, and drive a distance worthy of picking up the ideal pastries!"

Although the full lineup of challenge rewards hasn't been disclosed, here is what's been announced so far:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it seems fans will also get wheels featuring a TV displaying the show's title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and rocket boosts inspired by burning tires and Krusty Burger.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

This event coincides with the extensive The Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which brings a brand-new playable area of the fictional town, as well as a 30-day Battle Pass. The Rocket League x The Simpsons event begins on November 1st and concludes on Nov. 17.
